I just came here to ask hi-rez about the use of a slightly modified overlay (mumble).
I read : http://www.hirezstudios.com/hirezwp/?page_id=789 (3.f, 3.h) and the fact is that mumble's overlay is allowed and AHK overlays are allowed.
Still, AHK overlays don't work in fullscreen mode/consume "a lot" of resource and this is real problem in my opinion.
Overlay: Image Basically the modification is just the creation of a new texture (the crosshair) and that's it. It doesn't interact with the game more than the original overlay does.
So my question is: Are we allowed to use an overlay of this kind (drawing a simple crosshair) ? If not, then ... It's kinda unfair and this needs some change anyway.
DOWNLOAD LINK AND SETUP GUIDE :
Nothing confirmed at the moment so use it at your own risk.
BASIC : https://www.dropbox.com/sh/u6p4q4yumi25p3a/u1eV2JB9SV (Basic version -> 1 crosshair)
REGULAR : https://www.dropbox.com/sh/fx5nt3bevgjvqd2/ZOwuLm19m7 (Regular version -> up to 9 crosshairs, timer. At the moment there is only one way to switch the crosshairs which may be annoying when using a lot of crosshairs so I might change that after the first feedbacks.)
Setup (You need to use mumble.)
BASIC : 1- Go to your mumble folder (where "mumble.exe" is) 2- Rename original "mumble_ol.dll" if you don't want to erase it (mumble_ol-backup.dll for example) 3- Copy the "mumble_ol.dll" you just downloaded to the mumble folder 4- Put the crosshair you want to use in the same folder as the game executable ("TribesAscend.exe" for example). Crosshair's filename must be crosshair.png 5- Launch mumble, enable the overlay if it's not done yet, play the game
REGULAR: 1- Go to your mumble folder (where "mumble.exe" is) 2- Rename original "mumble_ol.dll" if you don't want to erase it (mumble_ol-backup.dll for example) 3- Copy the "mumble_ol.dll" you just downloaded to the mumble folder 4- Put the crosshairs you want to use and "config_ol.ini" in the same folder as the game executable ("TribesAscend.exe" for example). Crosshairs' filenames must be xhair1.png, xhair2.png, xhair3.png, etc. 5- Modify crosshairs count by editing "config_ol.ini" and changing the figure after "XHAIR_COUNT=" (1-9) 6- Launch mumble, enable the overlay if it's not done yet, play the game
Notes: - It works in Fullscreen, Windowed, Borderless mode - The center of the image will go to the center of the screen - You can either show, hide or change the crosshair by using the INSERT key (Inser?) - Transparency is supported - (REGULAR) You can start/stop the timer by using the End key.
